#107

Doctor Kai begins to direct The House to thrust upward, knocking everyone except You and Klaus to the ground. The House seems to be moving unnaturally fast; it's trying to breach through the upper layers of the atmosphere.

“What's happening?” Mina yells. “What the flying fuck are you doing?!”

“I have to get us out of here. Inspector Fox is right behind us.”

They all realize that that's what they sensed coming. Because now, having been slain by him, they recognize that Fox is something beyond just a simple animalistic Headhunter. He's no longer a who; he's more of a what.

As The House climbs, they all suddenly become very afraid.

“I'm going to attempt to get us up to a speed where we can basically get sucked into a space warp,” Kai shouts. “The House tells me it's having trouble shifting into other universes because of the lasting effects of the Ultra portal Jacob and I were forced through, but we can eventually maybe glitch a wormhole into existence to escape.”

“It'll just take a long time to build up that speed?” Jacob asks.

“Aye.”

Jacob manages to crawl over to the window, to watch as the Earth begins to fall away; they're miles up already, in a matter of seconds. They've likely reached escape velocity, and it's only magic or whatever that's keeping them alive. It would be quite a feat if Fox could catch them...

But suddenly, he does. He's at the window right now.

Jacob doesn't even get a chance to scream before more of those blasts begin shelling The House. There is a slight difference between now and the last time Jacob wasn't allowed to scream, however: he and the others are still alive.

Mark seems to have given some sort of grip property to You's boots, as he still doesn't react to the sudden vacuum as one of the now-wooden walls of The House splinters apart. Susie sees this and grabs onto You, whereas once again Mark grabs onto Susie. The Inspector's form is breaking their eyes, so they try desperately to look away from him; instead, they just stare at each others' faces.

Jacob is closest to the vacuum and the Inspector, so he anticipates his own death. Doctor Kai tries to move towards him, but then The House pitches, sending Jacob back against the far wall, away from danger. But then, as he grabs onto one of the far window frames, it pitches again. Klaus goes flying forward but Mina dives after him. A faint “Gotcha!” is heard as she snares his large belly, and she yanks him back. His face is genuinely surprised, and he's not making such a face sarcastically.

The Inspector considers entering The House and wiping them out, even as Susie seizes Mark's face and lunges hers at it, but for some reason, he does not. It would be more amusing to his human aspect to watch The House plunge from the sky, crumbling and in flames. So he leaves.

Lunging back and forth, but refraining itself from spinning, McGee Manor begins to fall apart and burst into flames from the assault. Its west flank almost gone, it begins the miles-long plunge downward, towards the Earth.
